Kentut adalah proses alamiah yang menyehatkan tubuh selama dikeluarkan secara wajar.

Gas yang menyebabkan kentut (dan juga sendawa) menumpuk secara normal selama pencernaan dan juga saat Anda menelan udara bersama makanan saat makan atau minum.

Dalam kondisi normal, orang bisa kentut maksimal 23 kali dalam sehari.

Meski demikian ada beberapa kondisi yang membuat orang lebih sering kentut daripada biasanya.

Kentut memang proses alamiah, namun terkadang ada beberapa hal yang membuat seseorang nekat menahan kentut.

Hal-hal yang dimaksud bisa karena sedang dalam ruangan atau malu ketika sedang bersama teman-teman.

Namun dilansir dari Healthline, Anda disarankan untuk tetap mengeluarkan kentut sebagai mana mestinya.

Jika memang sedang di dalam ruangan, silahkan cari ruangan yang sekitaranya tidak menganggu orang lain.

Sebab menahan kentut ternyata berbahaya. Laporan menyebut jika menahan kentut menyebabkan beberapa masalah kesehatan.

Dalam jangka pendek, menahan kentut bisa menyebabkan beberapa hal di bawah ini:

  • Sekit perut
  • Perut kembung
  • Gangguan pencernaan
  • Maag

Sementara dalam jangka panjang, keseringan menahan kentut bisa membuat seseorang terkena Divertikulitis.

Divertikulitis adalah infeksi atau peradangan pada divertikula, kantong-kantong kecil yang menonjol yang bisa terbentuk di usus (paling sering di usus besar).
