Selain aktivitas olah tubuh, pemilihan menu makanan sudah biasa dilakukan oleh para atlet profesional, tak terkecuali pesepak bola.

Pola diet khusus ternyata juga diterapkan oleh bintang Atletico Madrid, Marcos Llorente.

Mantan pemain Real Madrid itu menerapkan pola diet Paleolitik atau diet manusia purba, atau disebut juga diet manusia gua.

Dilansir dari Mayoclinic.org diet Paleolitik adalah pola makan dengan meniru apa yang mungkin telah dimakan selama era Paleolitik, yang berasal dari sekitar 2,5 juta hingga 10.000 tahun yang lalu.

Karena memilih pola diet Paleolitik, Marcos Llorente kini tak bisa lagi sembarangan memakan makanan.

Pola ini mengharuskan Llorente mengonsumsi daging tanpa lemak, ikan, buah, sayur, kacang-kacangan, dan biji-bijian yang bebas dari bahan kimia.

Makanan yang sebisa mungkin dihindari untuk dikonsumsi orang yang menerapkan pola diet ini adalah produk olahan dari susu, kacang, biji-bijian, garam, dan olahan gula.

Selain pola diet Paleolitik, Llorente juga melakukan puasa untuk menunjang dietnya.

Pemain berusia 26 tahun itu terkadang berpuasa selama 12 hingga 16 jam.

Namun, dalam suatu kesempatan, Marcos Llorente juga kedapatan berpuasa selama 25 jam, seperti dilansir dari AS.

Marcos Llorente pun terang-terangan mengakui diet yang ia lakukan memiliki pengaruh baik ke tubuhnya.

"Saya merasa sangat baik secara energik dan saya tidak perlu sarapan untuk pergi berlatih," ujar Llorente.

"Seperti saat saya lapar dan saya bisa bergerak tanpa makan apapun." ujar Llorente menambahkan.
