Berdasarkan kepercayaan yang berkembang saat ini, tidur di lantai dianggap sebagai salah satu penyebab paru-paru basah.

Paru-paru basah atau pneumonia sendiri adalah kondisi peradangan yang terjadi pada paru-paru sehingga menimbulkan penumpukan cairan pada jaringan paru.

Biasanya, kondisi ini terjadi pada penyakit seperti pneumonia karena infeksi bakteri atau virus.1.

Tapi, benarkah tidur di lantai jadi salah satu penyebab paru-paru basah?

Dilansir dari YouTube dokter Tirta Mandira Hudhi, nyatanya tidak ada hubungannya antara tidur di lantai dengan paru-paru basah.

"Tidur di ubin paru-paru basah? Paru-paru basa itu namanya pneumonia, terjadi karena infeksi," kata dokter Tirta.

"Anda mau tidur di ubin, kasur, beton, atau aspal, itu tidak menyebabkan paru-paru basah," dia menambahkan.

Apa yang disampaikan dokter Tirta tersebut senada dengan dokter Intan Airlina Febiliawanti dari Rumah Sakit UNS.

Bukan hanya mitos tidur di lantai, dokter Intan juga menjelaskan jika paru-paru basah tidak dikarenakan aktivitas malam hari.

“Orang awam suka salah menyangka bahwa pneumonia atau paru-paru basah itu pasti karena dia itu naik motor atau aktivitas yang dikerjakan saat malam hari, entah mandi, entah naik motor, atau apa itu yang menyebabkan paru-paru menjadi basah, itu sebenarnya enggak," katanya.

Menurut penelitian, paru-paru basah bisa terjadi karena paparan udara yang tidak bersih, kondisi seseorang yang lemah, alergi berlebihan dan asma.
