Gusi membengkak merupakan salah satu penyakit yang menyerang kesehatan mulut.

Selain ada pembengkakan, biasanya ada kemerahan pada gusi dan keluar darah saat disentuh atau terkena sikat gigi.

Pembengkakan gusi dapat disebabkan hal-hal berikut ini seperti jarang gosok gigi, infeksi jamur yang menyebabkan peradangan, aktif merokok, dan kekurangan vitamin C.

Cara mengatasi gusi bengkak pun beragam, dari mulai mengompres di area pipi yang bengkak hingga mengonsumsi paracetamol.

Namun, ada beberapa makanan yang perlu dihindari ketika gusi bengkak sehingga sakit yang diderita tidak bertambah parah:

1. Makanan manis

Makanan manis perlu dihindari karena dapat menyebabkan penumpukan bakteri di mulut.

2. Tembakau

Tembakau dari hasil olahannya seperti rokok juga harus dihindari karena dapat menyebabkan menempelnya zat kimia di dalam gusi.

3. Alkohol

Efek dari alkohol yang dapat mengeringkan dan mengiritasi gusi membuatnya juga akan membuat gusi yang membengkak semakin parah.

4. Makanan tajam

Makanan tajam seperti keripik, biji-bijian, dan popcorn juga harus dihindari karena mudah tersangkut di gigi dan menimbulkan rasa sakit.

Sebagai gantinya, penderita gusi bengkak dapat mengonsumsi makanan yang mudah dikunyah dan ditelan seperti yogurt dan oatmeal.
