Di masa pandemi seperti ini, pamor olahraga semakin meroket. Banyak orang meluangkan waktu untuk melakukan workout demi menjaga kebugaran.

Bahkan, tak sedikit pula yang rutin berolahraga demi mencapai berat badan yang ideal.

Sayangnya, tidak semua orang memiliki pengetahuan yang tepat, sehingga tak jarang melakukan kesalahan dalam berolahraga.

Salah satu kesalahan yang sering terjadi adalah memutuskan berolahraga dengan perut kosong.

Dilansir dari Shape.com, pilihan untuk tidak makan sebelum olahraga justru membawa dampak buruk bagi kesehatan.

Menurut sebuah penelitian, tubuh manusia membakar lemak dalam jumlah yang sama, entah kita makan sebelum berolahraga atau tidak.

Jika kita membiasakan tidak makan sebelum berolahraga, lambat laun kita justru akan kehilangan massa otot.

Penjelasannya demikian. Saat lapar, tubuh kita akan mengambil protein dari otot, bukan dari ginjal dan hati seperti seharusnya.

Akibatnya, massa otot perlahan akan berkurang dan metabolisme tubuh semakin lambat.

Kondisi ini mengakibatkan Anda justru semakin sulit untuk bisa mengurangi berat badan.

Ditambah, dalam berolahraga kita butuh bahan bakar yang hanya bisa diperoleh jika kita mengonsumsi makanan sebelumnya.

Akibatnya, Anda akan kehabisan tenaga terlebih dahulu sebelum sempat menyelesaikan menu latihan.

Beberapa makanan baik untuk dikonsumsi sebelum berolahraga, terutama yang mengandung karbohidrat kompleks seperti gandum utuh dan oatmeal.

Selain itu, dianjurkan pula untuk memakan makanan tinggi protein, seperti kacang-kacangan.

Buah-buahan segar dan yogurt juga bisa menjadi pilihan untuk disantap atau dikombinasikan dengan bahan lainnya.
