1 Kebiasaan Kecil Ini Bisa Menekan Kenaikan Berat Badan hingga Setahun

SKOR.id - Berdasarkan riset, hampir semua orang dewasa akan bertambah berat badannya sebesar 0,5 hinngga 1kg per tahun.

Kecenderungan ini bisa bertambah jika terdapat perubahan kebiasaan, termasuk pada pandemi ini. Wabah Covid-19 malah membuat beberapa dari kita menurunkan intensitas olahraga.

Lantas, apakah mempertahankan berat badan ideal makin sulit saat ini? Tidak juga.  

Riset terbaru dari Loughborough University menunjukkan, perubahan kecil berupa aktivitas fisik tambahan dapat membantu menekakenaikan berat badan, bahkan obesitas.

Para peneliti di Pusat Medis tentang Gaya Hidup dan Perilaku Loughborough University (CLIMB) melihat efektivitas pendekatan perubahan kecil untuk manajemen berat badan, dan mendapatkan hasil memuaskan dari 21 percobaan acak terkontrol.

Untuk riset ini, peserta diminta untuk membuat perubahan kecil pada gaya hidup mereka. Beberapa di antaranya adalah mengurangi asupan energi sebanyak 100-200 kalori dan/atau menambah 2.000 langkah jalan kaki setiap hari.

Kajian ini menemukan bahwa pendekatan perubahan kecil mungkin efektif dalam mencegah kenaikan berat badan pada orang dewasa, dengan rata-rata 0,7-0,9 kg kenaikan berat badan, dalam waktu delapan sampai 14 bulan.

Lantas, mengapa usaha-usaha seperti ini penting? Ternyata, obesitas menjadi salah tantangan kesehatan global di masa depan.

"Obesitas adalah krisis kesehatan global dan akan memburuk. Kita perlu menemukan cara mudah dan efektif untuk menghentikan orang menambah berat badan," kata salah satu peneliti, Henrietta Graham.

"Pendekatan perubahan kecil dapat menjadi strategi alternatif yang dapat mengarah pada manajemen berat badan jangka panjang."
