LoL World Championship pertama kali digulirkan tahun 2011 lalu oleh Riot Game dang pembesut game League of Legends.

LoL World Championship merupakan kompetisi tahunan tertinggi bagi skena profesional League of Legends.

Kompetisi ini dilangsungkan setiap tahun sekitar bulan Oktober atau November dengan diikuti oleh setiap tim terbaik dari semua region di dunia.

Juara LoL World Championship kemudian dinobatkan sebagai juara dunia dan tim terbaik League of Legends tahun tersebut.
